Dentures Back

Dentures: Dentures are removable prosthetic devices that replace your natural teeth and gums. They are usually suitable for people who are missing several teeth or for individuals whose teeth are not healthy enough to support a dental bridge. Missing teeth could be due to bad oral hygiene, accident or aging. Dentures can be made as a partial or complete set ; they are removable and are cleaned like regular teeth, and may require repairs from cracks and can break if they have been dropped or mishandled. Dentures can help improve your smile as well as restore functionality to your teeth and mouth. The dentist will take an impression of the inside of your mouth to make the dentures properly.

There are different types of dentures available:

  • Full Dentures ( These include Conventional dentures, Immediate Dentures and Implant supported denture )
  • Partial Dentures

Care and Maintenance of Dentures:

  • In the first few weeks, the patient is advised to wear the denture continuously, gradually moving to removing it at night
  • Dentures must be stored in their special containers when not in use, covered with water. This helps maintain the flexibility of the dentures.
  • Dentures need to be cleaned every day, just like your teeth
  • Regular visits to the dentist are required for adjustments to the dentures as well as ensuring the good health of the gums and the other remaining teeth.
